What the site uses

• Country - derived from your IP address the moment you connect (our hosting layer turns the IP into a two-letter country code; the game itself keeps only that code). It exists because country-versus-country play is the point of FlagDuel: your flag and country name are shown to the opponent you are matched with and feed the public country rankings. The IP address itself is used only to run the connection and standard security logs; it is never stored by the game, published, or used for advertising. If that country code is unavailable, the flag on your side of the arena falls back to your browser’s own time zone (and failing that, its language region) - a display-only guess made in your browser; rankings still count only the code derived on the server. Legal basis: providing the service you request (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (art. 6(1)(f)).
• Match data - results and timings of duels, stored against an anonymous session and, in aggregate, powering the public stats page and rankings. Finished live matches are also kept as anonymous input recordings (game, country code and tap timings only - no IP, no name) that later power practice opponents. Practice-opponent matches are excluded from public numbers.
• Device storage - your browser’s local storage holds your sound and theme preferences, your best win streak (for belts), your recorded runs (key arena-ghost: timings and tap positions of rounds you played, so a ghost of your own play can stand in as an opponent) and an anonymous player id. The id exists only so you can resume an interrupted match and get fairly matched opponents; it is first-party, is never used for advertising or cross-site tracking, and clearing your browser storage resets it. Because all of this is strictly necessary for features you actively use, no consent banner is required for it.

What the site does not do

No advertising scripts, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixels run on this site today. If that ever changes, this page changes first and visitors in regions that require it will be asked for consent beforehand.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase personal data. FlagDuel keeps the personal data it handles to the minimum above; because play is anonymous, match records cannot be traced back to you once your session ends.
