Note Drop - 1v1 Banknote Catching Reflex Duel
Note Drop on FlagDuel is a free 1v1 reflex duel: a banknote hangs beside an open hand and lets go at a moment held in the shared round seed, the gap between the release and your click is converted into the centimetres the note fell, a catch under the target line counts as clean and pulls that line 2 cm tighter for the next one, and the first player to 5 clean catches wins the round.
A banknote hangs between an open finger and thumb. There is no counter, no beep, no bar filling up in a corner. At some point it simply lets go, and everything from that instant onwards is your nervous system against gravity.
Your reaction is measured the way a physics lesson measures it. The time between the release and your click becomes the distance the paper travelled, and the round is scored in centimetres rather than milliseconds - a small change that makes the difference between a good hand and an average one feel much larger than it sounds. Catch it inside the line, meaning fewer centimetres than the number printed on it, and the catch is clean.
The line does not stay generous. It starts at a relaxed 26 centimetres and tightens by two after every clean catch, so the fifth one lands in territory where flinching early and reacting late look identical on the scoreboard.
How to play
- Press START - the note hangs beside the open hand on both sides, held there for the same unannounced moment.
- The instant it falls, click to close the hand. Your reaction becomes the centimetres the note dropped, and anything under the target line is a clean catch that pulls the line 2 cm tighter.
- First player to 5 clean catches takes the round. Win 2 of 3 rounds to take the match.

SoonFrequently asked questions
How does a reaction time turn into centimetres?
By the same free fall arithmetic used in the classroom ruler drop: distance grows with the square of the time, so a note is 20 centimetres gone after about 200 milliseconds and 26 centimetres gone after about 230. Halving your centimetres takes far more than halving your delay.
How tight does the target line get by the fifth catch?
It opens at 26 centimetres and pulls in by two after every clean catch, so the fifth one has to be caught inside 18 - somewhere around 190 milliseconds. The first catch is a formality; the last is genuinely quick.
Would a real banknote fall like this?
Not quite. Paper flutters and drags in real air, which makes a real note easier to grab than the maths suggests. The arena drops it on clean free fall figures instead, so the centimetres you are shown are a fair reading of your reaction rather than a lucky flap.
Is there a countdown before the note drops?
None at all - the hold before the release is different every time and nothing on screen hints at it. Both sides are handed the same wait from the round seed, so the only useful habit is to watch the note itself and let your eyes, not your counting, start your hand.
