Lights Out - F1 Start Reaction Duel

Lights Out on FlagDuel is a free 1v1 race-start reaction duel: five red lights come on one by one, hold steady through a random pause, and the instant they all go dark you tap - tapping before the lights go out is a jump start and loses the round on the spot.

How to play

  1. Press START and watch your five lights come on, one by one.
  2. Hold your nerve through the pause - tapping while any light is on is a jump start and loses the round.
  3. The moment all five go dark, tap. The faster reaction takes the round; best of three wins the match.

Frequently asked questions

How is Lights Out different from a plain reaction test?

A plain test only measures your reaction. The five-light launch adds jeopardy: the pause before lights-out is random, so nerves and discipline decide as much as raw speed - twitch too early and the round is gone, exactly like a jumped race start.

What counts as a jump start?

Any tap while at least one light is still on. The round ends immediately and goes to your opponent, no matter how fast they were. Waiting out the hold is part of the skill.

What is a good launch reaction time?

Off the lights, 200-260 ms is a solid human launch, under 200 ms is elite territory, and top sim racers hover around 150-180 ms. Times under about 90 ms are humanly impossible and treated as noise.

Do both players see the lights at the same moment?

Yes. The light sequence and the final dark pause come from one shared seed, so both sides watch the identical countdown and react to the same instant. Only the reaction differs.
