Chimp Recall - Hidden Number Memory Duel

Chimp Recall on FlagDuel is a free 1v1 working-memory duel: numbers appear scattered on a grid, the moment you tap 1 the rest turn blank, and you must tap them in rising order from memory - complete three boards before your opponent and the round is yours.

How to play

  1. Press START - numbers appear scattered across the grid, identical layout on both halves.
  2. Tap 1 - the remaining numbers turn blank. Keep tapping in rising order from memory; a wrong tap redeals the board.
  3. Complete 3 boards before your opponent to take the round. Each finished board grows the next by one number.

Frequently asked questions

Why is it called a chimp test?

A famous Kyoto University study showed the chimpanzee Ayumu beating university students at exactly this task - young chimps hold a photographic snapshot of numbers that humans struggle to match. The task became the most iconic working-memory challenge on the internet.

How many numbers do I have to remember?

Your first board holds four; every completed board adds one, and positions reshuffle each time. Champions ride out seven or eight - at that size the task is pure memory snapshot, not scanning.

What happens on a wrong tap?

The board shakes and redeals at the same size with fresh positions - your progress toward three boards stays, but the time is gone. Slow and clean beats fast and lucky.

Any technique for holding the layout?

Take the snapshot BEFORE touching 1: trace the path 1-2-3 with your eyes and remember the route, not the digits. Players who tap 1 first and then start searching lose the picture the instant the numbers blank out.
